Stepping Stone’s Substance Abuse Programs and Recovery Residences

When you enter most substance abuse programs, you will be confined to the treatment center for your entire stay. While this is the safest way to avoid patient relapse, it doesn't represent a "real world" environment, which the patient will face in as little as four weeks. Stepping Stone’s philosophy is that substance abuse programs need to be able to provide patients with a safe and effective course of treatment as well as several different environmental experiences with different levels of responsibility. In this way, the transition into real-life is not as dramatic as when patients are discharged from secured substance abuse programs.

The recovery residences at Stepping Stone Center for Recovery are truly unique. After patients are medically and emotionally stable, they can be evaluated for transfer to these residences, which are located just a short distance from the main facility. While these residences are fully staffed, patients spend the entire day participating in clinical activities in the substance abuse program and return to the residences at night. This type of innovative alcohol and drug recovery program has launched Stepping Stone into the forefront of substance abuse treatment.

While in the recovery residences, patients learn medication management and relapse prevention skills, design discharge plans and attend 12-step meetings in the evening. If for some reason a patient is having difficulty with this level of structure, he or she can be transferred back to the main substance abuse program. This type of clinical flexibility has helped patients develop and enjoy long-term recovery.

TESTIMONIALS

I know you will never believe it but it has been ten and a half months since I finished treatment and am still in recovery. I know you will say it may be more of a miracle that I finished rehab being that I was about as resistant a patient can be, but I am making it one day at a time. Special thanks to Robert.

-- Terrance G, Morristown, New Jersey

This is to my therapist Bobby, who never gave up on me. I could never have made it through rehab without your patience. You taught me that I am worth it.

-- Bryan, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

My life was a shambles, my husband wanted a divorce and my children wouldn't speak with me. I felt hopeless until we all got together for family treatment. While we all have some hills to climb, my recovery is solid. Who would have thought, 476 days sober. Love to all.

-- Patti P, Atlanta, Georgia

You guys were right when you told me to get right into meetings. They have kept me clean and sober and I have made a lot of good friends. Thanks for bringing meetings into rehab.
