Sober Living

Sober living is the ultimate goal for anyone who has ever suffered from alcohol abuse or alcoholism. But, getting there isn't easy and it's nearly impossible to do on one's own. Successful and long-term sober living is why it is so important to seek the help of a reputable professional treatment center.

What is Living Sober?

Living sober is the act of living your life free from alcohol after recovering from alcohol abuse or addiction. When you're living sober, you have the strength to avoid or cope with the triggers that would normally cause you to drink. Having self-control and a disciplinary mind-set are the tenets on which sober living resides. While you may experience moments of weakness, the techniques you learned from your  alcohol relapse prevention program will help you stay on track - as long as you adhere to your customized plan.

Sober Living Outside of Treatment

Sometimes, an individual may not feel fully comfortable re-entering their everyday life right after rehab. For these individuals, it can benefit them to practice their sober living in a halfway house. A halfway house, or sometimes called a sober living house, is an environment that allows for a more gradual reintegration into society for people recovering from addiction. In this setting, the individual still receives medical monitoring and support while making the slow transition back into their normal life. Halfway houses have been shown to reduce the risk of relapse by allowing the patient to better grasp and implement their newly learned skill sets into their daily life.

TESTIMONIALS

I know you will never believe it but it has been ten and a half months since I finished treatment and am still in recovery. I know you will say it may be more of a miracle that I finished rehab being that I was about as resistant a patient can be, but I am making it one day at a time. Special thanks to Robert.

-- Terrance G, Morristown, New Jersey

This is to my therapist Bobby, who never gave up on me. I could never have made it through rehab without your patience. You taught me that I am worth it.

-- Bryan, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

My life was a shambles, my husband wanted a divorce and my children wouldn't speak with me. I felt hopeless until we all got together for family treatment. While we all have some hills to climb, my recovery is solid. Who would have thought, 476 days sober. Love to all.

-- Patti P, Atlanta, Georgia

You guys were right when you told me to get right into meetings. They have kept me clean and sober and I have made a lot of good friends. Thanks for bringing meetings into rehab.
