Methadone Withdrawal
Many people go from heroin addiction to methadone addiction because methadone is sometimes used in the treatment of heroin addiction. They continue to be caught up in this "treatment" for years because they fear methadone withdrawal. Methadone withdrawal symptoms include but are not limited to:
- Sneezing,
- Yawning,
- Teary eyes
- Runny nose
- Excessive perspiration
- Fever
- Dilated pupils
- Abdominal cramps
- Nausea

Methadone Addiction Treatment at Stepping Stone Center for Recovery
Methadone detox is extremely difficult because the drug's effects are long-lasting and methadone is readily stored in the body's tissue, but Stepping Stone's methadone addiction treatment and detox programs have the ability to help even those most severely addicted.
Methadone does not have to be the way of life for former heroin addicts. At Stepping Stone, the methadone detox process consists of:
- Gradually decreasing the amount of methadone in the body
- Continual monitoring of the patient's overall health and comfort by board certified physicians and other medical personnel trained in addiction medicine
- Dispensing medications that can alleviate some of the discomfort
- Stabilizing the patient medically and evaluating them for any co-existing mental health issues
- Providing the patient with healthy nourishment to replace the nutrients lost during methadone use
- Giving the patients a good foundation for continuing to our onsite drug rehabilitation program
