Prescription Drug Addiction
The Difference Between Lorcet and Lortab
Lorcet and Lortab are two narcotic pain relievers comprised of hydrocodone and acetaminophen. They are both available only through a doctor's prescription and both are used to treat moderate to severe pain. The primary difference between the two medications is found in the amount of acetaminophen that's included in their compounds.
- Lorcet features 10mg of hydrocodone and 500mg of acetaminophen
- Lortab features 10mg of hydrocodone and 650mg of acetaminophen
Because both drugs include hydrocodone, they each pose a high risk of addiction if the dose is not taken as recommended. Increasing one's use of the drug is considered abuse of the drug and this sets the stage for Lorcet and Lortab addiction.
Lorcet and Lortab Addiction
Whether through prolonged use for pain relief or recreational abuse, the body will eventually begin to tolerate the effects of both Lortab and Lorcet. When this occurs, many people take it upon themselves to simply increase the amount they take in an effort to achieve the same results as before. This behavior can cause a number of side effects which are tell-tale signs that the individual is suffering from Lorcet or Lortab addiction. These side effects include:
- Itchiness
- Constipation
- Blurry vision
- Profuse sweating
- Dizziness
- Drowsiness
- Loss of concentration
- Dry mouth
The longer one uses these medications, and as their dosage is increased, the more severe the side effects will become. The individual will also experience painful withdrawal symptoms whenever they attempt to stop using the medication.
Lorcet and Lortab Withdrawal
The symptoms of Lorcet and Lortab withdrawal are identical and can include:
- Severe muscle and bone pain
- Restlessness
- Insomnia
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
While Lorcet and Lortab withdrawal can be extremely uncomfortable, accepting detox through a medically-monitored program enables detoxification to progress with substantially less-painful symptoms and more effective results.

TESTIMONIALS
I know you will never believe it but it has been ten and a half months since I finished treatment and am still in recovery. I know you will say it may be more of a miracle that I finished rehab being that I was about as resistant a patient can be, but I am making it one day at a time. Special thanks to Robert.
-- Terrance G, Morristown, New Jersey
This is to my therapist Bobby, who never gave up on me. I could never have made it through rehab without your patience. You taught me that I am worth it.
-- Bryan, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
My life was a shambles, my husband wanted a divorce and my children wouldn't speak with me. I felt hopeless until we all got together for family treatment. While we all have some hills to climb, my recovery is solid. Who would have thought, 476 days sober. Love to all.
-- Patti P, Atlanta, Georgia
You guys were right when you told me to get right into meetings. They have kept me clean and sober and I have made a lot of good friends. Thanks for bringing meetings into rehab.
-- Dean W, Dallas Texas
