Clinical Assessments

Clinical Assessment
Clinical Assessment for the Stepping Stone Drug/Alcohol Rehab Program
Welcome to Stepping Stone's alcohol rehab and drug rehabilitation center. Upon arrival, you will be met by one of our nurses who will complete an initial clinical assessment before introducing you to our medical director, a board-certified physician specializing in addiction medicine. The purpose of this clinical assessment is to assist in determining your need for our drug or alcohol rehab programs and to identify any medical or psychiatric problems that may exist. This information will then be passed on to the medical director for further review.
After reviewing the information you have provided our nursing staff, the physician will take his own medical and drug addiction treatment history and provide you with a comprehensive physical examination. If you are found to be in need of alcohol or drug detox services, a detox protocol will be designed to minimize and eliminate your withdrawal symptoms. Any possible medical issues are addressed in the drug detox program. If it is determined during your clinical assessment that you may require psychiatric stabilization, that can also be accomplished in the alcohol detox phase of the alcohol rehab program.
After the Clinical Assessment: Your Addiction Treatment Plan
After your initial clinical assessment, all of the information mentioned above will be provided to your primary therapist in the alcohol rehab program to develop an addiction treatment plan that meets your individual needs. As you progress through drug rehab and your emotional, physical and spiritual states improve, clinical and medical conditions will change. Patients at our drug treatment program are reviewed on an ongoing basis by staff in drug rehab to adjust their addiction treatment plan accordingly.
Dual Diagnosis Treatment and the Drug/Alcohol Rehab Program
If it is determined during the initial clinical assessment that a psychiatric disorder is present, then you will be seen by our board-certified psychiatrist while in medical detox and directly after completing our inpatient detoxification program. Dual diagnosis treatment is an important element of our drug and alcohol rehab program. In many cases, patients are completely unaware a mental health problem even exists. It is not uncommon for one of our therapists to refer a patient to our psychiatrist after the clinical assessment for an evaluation to determine whether a dual diagnosis is present and requires treatment. It is our belief and experience that a patient who completes a drug rehab program or alcohol rehabilitation program without having the co-existing disorders treated con-currently is destined to end in relapse. For this reason, the staff at Stepping Stone Center for Recovery receives extensive training and education on "cutting-edge” drug addiction treatment, alcohol rehabilitation services and dual diagnosis treatment services.

TESTIMONIALS
I know you will never believe it but it has been ten and a half months since I finished treatment and am still in recovery. I know you will say it may be more of a miracle that I finished rehab being that I was about as resistant a patient can be, but I am making it one day at a time. Special thanks to Robert.
-- Terrance G, Morristown, New Jersey
This is to my therapist Bobby, who never gave up on me. I could never have made it through rehab without your patience. You taught me that I am worth it.
-- Bryan, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
My life was a shambles, my husband wanted a divorce and my children wouldn't speak with me. I felt hopeless until we all got together for family treatment. While we all have some hills to climb, my recovery is solid. Who would have thought, 476 days sober. Love to all.
-- Patti P, Atlanta, Georgia
You guys were right when you told me to get right into meetings. They have kept me clean and sober and I have made a lot of good friends. Thanks for bringing meetings into rehab.
-- Dean W, Dallas Texas
