Addiction Treatment Aftercare Planning and Implementation

Alcohol and Drug Treatment Approaches

Alcoholism and drug addiction are diseases, just like diabetes or hypertension. They require treatment, lifestyle changes, and preventive maintenance. Patients and family sometimes think our six-week rehab program is enough and that the results are permanent, only to be disappointed when a relapse occurs. Proper addiction aftercare and constant vigilance can help ensure success.

Addiction Treatment Aftercare Solutions

At Stepping Stone Center for Recovery, our Aftercare Plan offers recommendations on lifestyle changes and preventive maintenance for your newfound sobriety. Just as a diabetic needs to watch their diet and take insulin every day, so does the recovering addict or alcoholic need meetings and a strong support program. This might include:

  • Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings
  • A sober-living house
  • Addiction aftercare groups
  • Psychiatric services
  • Family counseling
  • Vocational counseling
  • Work or school
  • Continued education
  • Physical rehabilitation

Individualized Aftercare Plans

Our highly experienced case managers work with your therapist and family to develop an Aftercare Plan personalized for your specific situation and needs. A case manager is an important part of your clinical team. They will:

  • Assess your needs upon admission to treatment
  • Stay abreast of your progress through treatment
  • Discuss options with your family
  • Locate living arrangements, meetings, and doctors in your area
  • Develop, with your input, an Aftercare Plan custom-made for you

A personalized Aftercare Plan is important. No two patients are identical, and no two plans should be the same.

Remember, Addiction is a Family Disease

The patient is often not the only one that needs help. The family system can also be very ill and require recovery. It is highly recommended that the family get involved with support groups, such as Codependents Anonymous or Al-Anon, and seek individual or family counseling. Our goal is to return the treated patient back to a safe and stable environment.

We Say “Admissions Coordinators.” Our Patients Call Them Lifesavers.

Our Addiction Helpline is available to anyone struggling with a drug or alcohol problem, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The specialists on the other end are caring, empathetic folks that have been in your shoes and want to see you get better.

TESTIMONIALS

I know you will never believe it but it has been ten and a half months since I finished treatment and am still in recovery. I know you will say it may be more of a miracle that I finished rehab being that I was about as resistant a patient can be, but I am making it one day at a time. Special thanks to Robert.

-- Terrance G, Morristown, New Jersey

My life was a shambles, my husband wanted a divorce and my children wouldn't speak with me. I felt hopeless until we all got together for family treatment. While we all have some hills to climb, my recovery is solid. Who would have thought, 476 days sober. Love to all.

-- Patti P, Atlanta, Georgia

You guys were right when you told me to get right into meetings. They have kept me clean and sober and I have made a lot of good friends. Thanks for bringing meetings into rehab.
